I was shocked to hear of Cliff’s passing. We became good friends in May of 1974, when he, Bev and Tedd Smith came to Rio de Janeiro for a week to participate in a week of concerts that we had planned to promote the Rio Crusade in November. I considered it to be one of the greatest privileges of my life. What an honor to get to spend so much time with such godly men. Each night, they participated in concerts in some of our largest churches, culminating in the beautiful Opera House of Rio. During the day, we rode around in my Volkswagen mini bus, and just fellowshipped and sang. We had been organizing and preparing a Crusade Choir for over a year. Cliff was to direct the choir. The choir was so large, we had to have our final rehearsal on the opening night of the Crusade. Cliff was a godly man, an encourager, a true friend, and we will miss him.
